This is definitely a book of our times, exploring the darkness that seems to be all around today while offering hope for its surcease. Each story is distinct and individual while nonetheless linking together to give us a teaser of the upcoming novels’ plot. Each story’s protagonist is interesting and utterly relatable- even “the evil protagonist” in the middle story.
The premise of the afterlife is new, different, and very interesting in all the best ways- who we are as we live leads us to who we become once we die. I look forward with great anticipation to further works from this author.

Despite all best intentions to read a chapter before bedtime, I was forced by the compelling story and character development to stay up until 3AM.
The darkness has begun to encompass the world, carried on wings of viral death. The despair and existential dread this engenders seeps through the cracks in the hearts around the world and opens them to evil. There is still light and hope in the multiverse, but that light seems to be slowly fading in the eyes of all too many.
I look forward to seeing the characters grow, deepen, and change into their truest selves… I just hope the world survives until they can escape the mental prison of absolutist, “black-and-white” thinking and realize that innovation and hope are most easily found in the shades of grey!
